SUBMISSIONS

 

Preparation of the articles

  • Papers should not be more than 5,000 words in length including figures, references and appendices. The Abstract should be under 250 words in length. As well as appearing at the top of your paper, this abstract will be located on the contents screen for readers to peruse before they download the full paper.
  • Ensure full author details are included on the paper. The journal team will blind the paper prior to review.
  • Papers must have been closely scrutinized for typographical and grammatical errors. If English is not your first language then your paper should be proof-read by an English-speaking person, preferably one with experience of writing for academic use. Spelling should follow the Oxford English Dictionary.
  • Key words. Within the journal Web Site there will be a search facility to look for papers that have been published and your keywords will be used in conjunction with this. Therefore please include at least six words or short phrases that highlight the topics covered by the paper.
  • The Harvard referencing convention is a requirement. A full and clear guide can be found at http://libweb.anglia.ac.uk/referencing/harvard.htm. Papers not using this convention will not be published.

 

Technical requirements

  • Papers should be presented in Microsoft Word (not pdf).
  • The page layout should be single column with single line spacing and 2cm margins all around.
  • Use numbered headings and do not use more than 3 levels.
  • End notes are not accepted and footnotes are discouraged.
  • Tables, graphs and illustrations should be drawn using a suitable drawing package. Colour may NOT be used. Place all diagrams and tables where you wish them to appear in the paper. Ensure your diagrams fit within the margins and are resizable without distortion.
  • Ensure author details are included on the paper. The journal team will blind the paper prior to review.

Authors’ Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all researched work submitted is original, prepared to a high scholarly standard and fully referenced using the prescribed referencing system.
  • Ensure all authors are presented accurately and other appropriate acknowledgements are clearly stated including sources of funding if any.
  • Provide open and full disclosure of the source of all data and how it was acquired.
  • Certify that all the data have been acquired in keeping with recognised ethical research practices.
  • Read carefully, agree and sign a licence to publish form.
  • Correspond and comply with the editor and publisher in any requests for source data, proof of authorship or originality in a timely manner.
  • Co-operate with any consequent investigations if any issues are raised by reviewers, editors or the publisher.
  • Provide appropriate information for errata if such an event occurs.
  • Remain in good communication with the editor(s), publisher and any co-authors if the need arises.
  • Recognise that the Editorial Board has the final decision on whether to publish.

 

Copyright

  • The submission of a paper will imply that, if accepted for publication, it will not be published elsewhere in the same form, in any language, without the consent of the Publisher.
  • Before publication, authors will be asked to complete a copyright release, giving the publisher permission to publish the named paper in a specific issue of this Journal.
  • Overall copyright ownership of the paper however, remains with the author/s.
  • It is the authors’ responsibility to obtain written permission to quote material that has appeared in another publication.

 

Code of Practice

  • The Editorial Board only consider for publication original research works of a high scholarly standard. A research paper offered to the journal should not have been previously published elsewhere. However research papers which have been published in Conference Proceedings may be considered for the journal provided material improvements the paper have been made.
  • Authors should note that it is not acceptable to submit a paper to more than one journal at a time. If a paper is not accepted for publication in the journal, then the author is at liberty to offer the paper to any other journal if he or she is so wishes.
  • Authors are required to reference any text or ideas specifically used in their paper. Authors may reference their own previously published works, but they are encouraged to be parsimonious in this respect.
  • Work which has been previously submitted to the journal and not accepted may be resubmitted provided substantial improvements have been made. In such a case the new version of the paper should be accompanied by the old version and the previous reviewers’ comments.
  • All work submitted should be free of plagiarism, falsifications and any form of fabrication. There should be no omissions of significant data or arguments.
  • All the authors should have made a significant contribution to the work which is submitted. Recycling of previous work should be avoided or kept to a minimum. Where the exact words of some previous work are being quoted these words should be either in quotation marks or italicised in order that they are recognised for what they are.
  • Multi-authored papers need to specify who the correspondence author is.
  • A double-blind review process is followed for all submissions to the journal i.e. the reviewers will not be informed as to whom’ the authors are and the authors identity will not be given to the reviewer.
  • Authors should have their data available in case it is requested by a reviewer.
  • When the research paper has been accepted for publication authors will be asked to make a final check of their paper to ensure that it is free from error. The author for correspondence should send a draft of the final manuscript to any co-authors.
  • If the research reported in the paper initiated as a student project then in the normal course of events the student should be a principal co-author of the paper.
  • It is the responsibility of the authors to check the draft of their paper for any copyright or intellectual property right issues.
  • Authors should ensure that no expletives are used in the paper as well as no politically incorrect comments.
  • Reviewers will normally be asked to return a completed review by a specific date. If the reviewer is unable to comply with this deadline then the reviewer should inform the journal immediately.
  • Authors should not post their papers online without the written permission of the journal.
  • Responsibility for the acceptance of the paper ultimately rests with the editor of the journal.
  • As editors are in a privileged position it is important that they act at all times with integrity and confidentiality. The only criteria used for the acceptance of a paper are its originality and its scholarship.
  • Editors need to clearly explain to authors the reasons for their work not being accepted for publication.
  • All information obtained by editors about papers submitted for review will be held in confidence.
