Open Access Policy

The Electronic Journal of Business and Management (EJBM) is an open access journal. All published articles are freely and immediately available online without subscription, registration, access charges or embargo. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to the full text of articles, crawl articles for indexing, pass articles as data to software, and use the published content for any lawful purpose without asking prior permission from the publisher or author, provided that proper attribution is given to the original work. This is in accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI) definition of open access.

Copyright and Author Rights

Authors retain copyright of articles published in EJBM. By submitting and publishing with EJBM, authors grant the journal the right of first publication and agree that the published article will be made available under the journal’s open access licence. Authors remain responsible for ensuring that their manuscript does not infringe the copyright or intellectual property rights of others. Any material reproduced from other sources must be properly acknowledged and, where required, used with permission from the copyright holder.

Licensing

Articles published in EJBM are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), unless otherwise stated. Under this licence, users may copy, share, distribute, adapt, translate, text-mine, data-mine and reuse the published article for any lawful purpose, including commercial and non-commercial purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given to the author(s), the article title, EJBM, the original source, the DOI or article link where available, and the CC BY 4.0 licence.

Proper Attribution

When reusing EJBM articles, users should provide appropriate attribution by including:

  • the author name(s);

  • the article title;

  • the journal title, Electronic Journal of Business and Management (EJBM);

  • the year of publication;

  • the volume, issue and page range or article identifier, where available;

  • the DOI or official article link, where available;

  • a statement that the article is licensed under CC BY 4.0.

Reproducing Third-Party Material

Authors must obtain permission to reproduce any material that does not belong to them, is not in the public domain, or is not already available under a licence that permits reuse. This includes figures, tables, charts, graphs, photographs, illustrations, long text extracts, questionnaires, scales, datasets or any other copyrighted material. Permission is normally required for:

  • figures, tables, graphs, charts, schemes or artwork reproduced or slightly modified from another source;

  • photographs or images for which the author does not hold copyright;

  • substantial extracts from published or unpublished works;

  • the author’s own work previously published elsewhere where copyright was transferred to another publisher;

  • proprietary instruments, survey items, scales, datasets or other protected materials.

Permission may not be required where reuse is clearly allowed by the applicable licence, where the material is in the public domain, where only a short quotation is used in accordance with applicable law, or where the author has completely redrawn or recreated material in a substantially original form. In all cases, the original source must be properly cited.

Permission Acknowledgement

Where permission is required, authors should obtain written permission before submission or as early as possible during the editorial process. EJBM cannot publish third-party material unless the necessary permission has been obtained. Where applicable, the acknowledgement should follow the wording required by the copyright holder. If no specific wording is provided, authors may use a statement such as:

“Reproduced with permission from [copyright holder/source], [title/source details], [year].”

or

“Adapted from [source], licensed/used with permission.”

Article Content and Website Content

The CC BY 4.0 licence applies to articles published in EJBM unless specific third-party material is clearly marked as being subject to different copyright or licensing terms. Other materials on the EJBM website, including website text, layout, design elements, logos, images, software, administrative content and other non-article materials, may be owned by the Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU), EJBM or their respective licensors, unless otherwise stated.

Open Access Compliance

EJBM does not charge readers or institutions for access to published articles. Published content is available immediately upon publication through the journal website. The journal supports wide dissemination, indexing, archiving, citation, teaching, research use and responsible reuse of published scholarly work.

Policy Review

This Open Access Policy, Copyright Notice and Licensing Statement is reviewed periodically to ensure that EJBM’s open access, copyright and licensing practices remain clear, transparent and aligned with recognised standards for open access scholarly publishing.
