Journal Policies
The Electronic Journal of Business and Management (EJBM), e-ISSN: 2550-1380, is a quarterly, open-access, peer-reviewed international journal published by the Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU), Malaysia, through its Strategic Research Institute (SRI). This page provides a central overview of EJBM’s editorial, publishing, open access, research integrity, author fee, preservation and privacy policies. It is intended to help authors, reviewers, readers, editors, indexing services and other stakeholders locate the journal’s key policies in one place.
Policy Overview
EJBM is committed to transparent, ethical and high-quality scholarly publishing. The journal maintains policies covering open access, copyright, licensing, peer review, publication ethics, plagiarism screening, artificial intelligence use, publication frequency, author charges, digital preservation, repository deposit, author guidelines, editorial governance and privacy. Authors, reviewers and editors are expected to follow the relevant EJBM policies throughout the submission, review, publication and post-publication process.
Open Access Policy
EJBM is an open access journal. All published content is made freely available to readers without subscription, registration or access charges. Readers may read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to the full text of articles and use the published content for lawful purposes, subject to the terms of the applicable open access licence.
Please refer to the Open Access Policy page for the journal’s full open access statement.
Copyright and Licensing
Articles published in EJBM are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), unless otherwise stated. Authors retain copyright of their published work. By publishing with EJBM, authors grant the journal the right of first publication and allow others to use, share, adapt and distribute the work under the terms of the CC BY 4.0 licence, provided that appropriate credit is given to the author(s), the journal and the original source. The copyright and licensing terms apply to the published article unless any third-party material is clearly identified as being subject to different copyright or licensing conditions.
Please refer to the Open Access Policy page for details.
Review Process
EJBM operates a peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, relevance and integrity of published research. Manuscripts submitted to the journal are first checked by the editorial team for suitability, scope, originality and compliance with the journal’s requirements. Suitable manuscripts are then sent for peer review.
Please refer to the Review Process page for details of the journal’s peer-review procedure, editorial decision process, revision handling and review timeline.
Publication Ethics
EJBM expects all authors, editors and reviewers to observe high standards of publication ethics. The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, duplicate submission, data fabrication, data falsification, citation manipulation, unethical authorship practices, undisclosed conflicts of interest or other forms of publication misconduct. The journal’s ethics framework covers author responsibilities, editorial responsibilities, reviewer responsibilities, research integrity, conflicts of interest, complaints and appeals, corrections, retractions and post-publication concerns.
Please refer to the Publication Ethics page for the full publication ethics and malpractice statement.
Plagiarism Policy
EJBM screens submitted manuscripts for plagiarism and similarity concerns. Manuscripts may be checked using similarity detection tools and reviewed manually by the editorial team. Similarity reports are interpreted with editorial judgement and are not treated as automatic evidence of misconduct. Manuscripts with unacceptable similarity, unattributed copying, duplicate publication, inappropriate paraphrasing or other originality concerns may be returned to the author, rejected or handled under the journal’s publication ethics procedures.
Please refer to the Plagiarism Policy page for further details.
Artificial Intelligence Policy
EJBM recognises that artificial intelligence tools may support language editing, formatting and limited research assistance. However, AI tools cannot be listed as authors and cannot replace human scholarly responsibility. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, references, data, analysis and conclusions of their manuscripts. Any use of AI tools beyond basic language correction should be disclosed in the manuscript where appropriate. Reviewers and editors must protect manuscript confidentiality and should not upload confidential submissions, review reports or editorial materials into public AI tools. AI-assisted screening tools may support editorial work, but final decisions must remain under human editorial responsibility.
Please refer to the AI Policy page for the full artificial intelligence policy.
Processing Charge and Publication Fees
EJBM does not charge authors any article processing charge or publication fee. The journal does not charge submission fees, editorial processing fees, peer-review fees, page charges, colour charges, publication charges, withdrawal fees or membership fees. Because EJBM does not charge author publication fees, a fee waiver policy is not applicable.
Please refer to the Publication Fees page for the full statement on author charges.
Publication Frequency
EJBM publishes quarterly. The journal publishes four issues per year according to its publication schedule. Accepted articles are published in accordance with the journal’s editorial, copyediting and production workflow.
Please refer to the Publication Frequency page for details.
Archiving and Preservation Policy
EJBM is committed to the long-term preservation of its published scholarly content. The journal preserves its content through the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), which supports the digital preservation of journals using Open Journal Systems. EJBM also maintains its published content through the journal’s online archive. The journal takes reasonable steps to ensure continued access to published articles through its website and preservation arrangements. In the event that the journal website becomes unavailable or the journal ceases publication, preserved content may remain accessible through relevant preservation procedures.
Please refer to the Archiving and Repository Policy page for details.
Repository and Self-Archiving Policy
Authors are permitted to deposit versions of their work in institutional repositories, subject repositories, funder repositories, personal websites or other scholarly repositories. Authors may deposit the submitted version, accepted manuscript and published version of record, provided that the original publication in EJBM is properly cited. Where available, the DOI and article landing page should be included in the repository record. No embargo is applied by EJBM for repository deposit of the published version of record.
Please refer to the Archiving and Repository Policy page for details.
Persistent Identifiers
EJBM supports the use of persistent identifiers to improve discoverability, citation and long-term access to published research. Published articles are assigned Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) where available. Authors are encouraged to use ORCID iDs where possible to support accurate author identification and research visibility.
Author Guidelines
Authors should read and follow the Author Guidelines before submitting a manuscript. The Author Guidelines provide instructions on manuscript preparation, formatting, submission requirements, referencing, ethical declarations and publication conditions.
Aims and Scope
EJBM publishes research in business, management and related interdisciplinary fields. The journal welcomes high-quality work that contributes to theory, practice, policy and contemporary debates across business and management disciplines.
